Delverium Controls: Rebinding, Tools and Gamepad Building Cursor
Use Control Options to inspect and change your bindings. Tools must be selected on the hotbar; each works on its matching target. During building, the community reference uses the gamepad right stick for placement and clicking the right stick to switch automatic/manual cursor mode.

Check the binding before assuming a fixed key
The February multiplayer demo update introduced control rebinding, and the current Steam store lists full controller support. Open Control Options, find the action you want, and read or change its current binding. A remapped keyboard or different controller layout can make a copied key list misleading.
Match the tool to the action
| Selected item | Expected job |
|---|---|
| Axe | Chop plants and trees of a supported resource tier. |
| Pick | Mine rocks, ore and underground blocks. |
| Hammer | Remove placed walls, floors, doors and furniture. |
| Hoe | Till or untill soil; remove immature crops. |
| Watering Can | Speed crop growth; the reference says it does not need refilling. |
The tools reference describes selecting the tool on the hotbar and using the right trigger on a gamepad. Use the equivalent bound action for your keyboard setup. If the action fires but the object is unaffected, check tool type and tier before changing every binding.
Control the building cursor
- Select a placement item or a craft-and-place recipe.
- For mouse play, point at the intended world tile. For a gamepad, use the right stick to move the placement cursor.
- Click the right stick to switch automatic/manual cursor mode if the cursor does not behave as you expect.
- Look at the validity marker before using the primary action: a valid target and enough crafting materials are separate requirements.
Separate binding problems from controller detection
If an Xbox controller produces duplicate actions, use the Steam Input workaround. If an unrelated peripheral triggers gamepad popups, use the false-detection guide; that workaround disables gamepad input. Official v0.1.0.2 also added UnpairPreviousController for manual handling when binding multiple gamepads as the primary input. These are distinct symptoms, not reasons to disable controls for every player.
