How to Spawn Necromancers in Delverium
Fight skeletons, especially armoured skeletons, to build the escalation timer. The developer says the timer decays over time and can raise the necromancer spawn chance to a maximum of 10%. This is a chance for a necromancer to spawn, not a gear drop rate or a guarantee after a particular number of kills.

Build the skeleton escalation timer
- Find skeletons, prioritising armoured skeletons when available.
- Keep defeating them to add to the escalation timer.
- Avoid long gaps between fights if your aim is to keep that timer elevated: it decreases with time.
- Watch for a necromancer appearing while you continue the loop.
The developer explains a maximum necromancer spawn chance of 10%. That number describes spawning, not a 10% chance for a particular weapon or armour drop. There is no stated guarantee that your tenth kill produces a necromancer.
What about torches?
The original poster reported that removing underground torches brought necromancer spawns back in their situation. If your skeleton area is heavily lit and the loop is not producing a necromancer, you can try that reported branch and compare the result in your own area.
The developer's explanation establishes the escalation mechanic; the torch change is one player's successful observation. It does not prove that every underground torch suppresses all necromancers in every build. Changing torches can also make the area harder to see, so retain a way to navigate.
When the loop is working
A necromancer actually appears. Repeated fights can also lead to a stronger enemy according to the developer, but the reply does not name that enemy. Keep spawn success separate from the later question of what gear drops.
If nothing appears, record skeleton types, gaps between fights, torch layout and build. Those details are more useful than assuming an unreported kill-count requirement.
