Delverium on Steam Deck: Compatibility and Controller Checks

The September 15 developer announcement reports Steam Deck Verified and full controller support. Start with the gamepad controls enabled, inspect the current bindings, and diagnose the specific input symptom before applying a workaround that disables controllers. The announcement is not a measured FPS or battery-life benchmark.

Read the compatibility statement in context

The developer announced Verified before Early Access launch. The current store's platform list still describes a Windows build; Steam Deck compatibility does not establish a separate native Linux download or a macOS port. Check the current Steam compatibility panel if Valve's rating is part of your purchase decision.

Use the intended gamepad route first

  1. Launch the installed, updated game through Steam.
  2. Keep controller input enabled. If you previously applied the ControllersEnabled=false XML workaround on this installation, that setting is intended to disable gamepad input.
  3. Open Control Options and inspect the actions you need. Rebinding support is documented, so use the current displayed binding rather than a guessed keyboard equivalent.
  4. For building, use the right stick to position the cursor and click it to switch automatic/manual placement mode as described in the community building reference.

Choose a workaround by symptom

SymptomNext check
No gamepad input after an XML editReview the controller-disable setting you changed.
An external Xbox controller repeats actionsUse the separate duplicate-input guide; its evidence is for that device scenario.
Placement cursor selects the wrong tileCheck building cursor mode and the current binding.
Low performance rather than an input faultRecord the game build, world and device settings; an input-disable workaround is not a performance preset.

What we can say about performance

The announcement describes solid performance but provides no reproducible FPS, battery, resolution or large-world hosting test. We therefore do not invent an optimal Proton version or promise 60 FPS. The PC requirements page supplies the store's Windows specifications, while your own demo run can help evaluate playability on your device.
