Delverium Building Guide: Craft-and-Place, Move Furniture and Cursor Checks
The community building reference lets you craft and place an item directly from its recipe, or place an item already on your hotbar. Use the hammer to remove placed items and return them to inventory. Check the cursor marker before pressing the placement action.
Early Access · community reference observed October 3, 2026; later official changes take precedence
Build straight from a recipe
- Keep the required materials and station available, then select the desired placement recipe in the crafting list.
- Point the placement cursor at the world tile where you want the item.
- Check the validity marker and use the primary action on a valid tile. The reference describes a Wood Wall being crafted and placed in one action.
- Inspect the placed result before continuing a long wall or floor run. Craft-and-place avoids filling the inventory with a separate stack first; it does not remove the recipe requirements.
Read the target marker
| Marker in the reference | What to do |
|---|---|
| White | Valid placement target; also check the materials. |
| Red | Blocked target; move the cursor or inspect the obstruction. |
| Red cross | Invalid placement; choose an allowed target. |
Remove or replace an item
Select a hammer and use it on the placed wall, floor, door or furniture. The reference says removed items return to inventory. Placing a different item over an existing placement can also remove the old one and return it. Check inventory and the new placement afterward rather than assuming the old furniture was destroyed.
Changing a room can affect its validity, so inspect the NPC room checklist after moving a bed, light or door. A storage move and an NPC assignment change are separate tasks.
For a gamepad cursor problem
Move the cursor with the right stick and click it to switch automatic/manual placement mode. Inspect the current action bindings in Control Options if placement responds unexpectedly. If the item is valid on the surface but rejected underground, check the build and the v0.1.0.3 placement changes.
Build the right enclosure
A room needs walls, flooring, door, light and bed; an animal pen uses fencing and a water trough. Do not solve a rejected pen by adding a bedroom's furniture. Follow the pen guide for that separate enclosure.
Signs, planted crops and storage labels
In the September 26 signs discussion, the developer said signs might be added. That reply does not document a working sign recipe or container-renaming control. The same thread suggests hovering over a seed in inventory to identify it; that is not a label for an already planted tile.
Until your build provides such a control, a practical layout is to separate crop types into small plots and keep their planting materials in dedicated nearby storage. This is an organisation suggestion, not an automatic in-game naming feature. See the signs and labels FAQ for the dated feature status.
