Delverium Chickens and Fertile Eggs: Hatching and Pen Checks

The community farming reference says fertile chicken eggs need to remain on the ground to hatch. It distinguishes these from ordinary Chicken Eggs used in cooking. Keep chickens in a valid pen and leave room for growing animals; picking up and storing a fertile egg is not the hatching route.

Identify the item before using it

ItemTask
Chicken EggA cooking ingredient, including Quiche and Scrambled Eggs.
Fertile Chicken EggA baby-animal stage that hatches when left on the ground.
ChickA young chicken; keep the pen suitable as animals develop.
ChickenA mature animal associated with produce and reproduction.

Prepare the enclosure first

  1. Build the valid pen: fencing and a water trough, with internal dimensions within the community reference's 2×3 to 24×24 range.
  2. Bring animals using the Small Net, enclose a wild animal in the pen, or inspect the Agronomist's available stock.
  3. Check the game's pen count/capacity rather than assuming a visibly fenced square has unlimited room.
  4. Leave the fertile egg on the ground for hatching. Keep ordinary produce separate if you plan to cook it.

Why eggs can accumulate

The farming reference describes mature tame animals producing young over time and says chickens can keep laying fertile eggs even when a pen reaches capacity. It also describes picking eggs up for storage. Stored eggs let you organise the supply, but the same reference's hatching condition still requires the egg to be on the ground.

If you are still waiting

Check the exact egg name, whether it is on the ground, the pen's validity and its displayed animal count. The source does not establish a hatch-time guarantee or a detailed capacity formula. Record those conditions and the build rather than promising that another minute must produce a chick.

For food production, ordinary eggs combine with wheat in several Cookpot recipes. These chicken details do not establish identical breeding rules for cows.
