Build a Working Animal Pen in Delverium
The community building reference lists fencing, a water trough and an internal pen size of 2×3 to 24×24 tiles. Its farming guide describes capturing animals with a Small Net or enclosing a wild animal in a valid pen. Mature tame animals can produce materials; fertile chicken eggs need to stay on the ground to hatch.

Check the enclosure first
- Build a fenced enclosure with an interior in the wiki's documented 2×3 to 24×24 range.
- Add a water trough. Before moving several animals, inspect the enclosure for a missing required component.
- Use a Small Net to capture an animal and place it inside. The wiki also describes enclosing a wild animal as a taming route.
- Wait for young animals to mature, then check for produce from the mature animals. An October player describes collecting drops by moving through the pen.
Do not collect every egg if you want chicks
The wiki distinguishes fertile chicken eggs from ordinary produce: fertile eggs hatch when left on the ground. If your goal is another chick, picking up the egg and storing it is a different outcome from leaving it to hatch. This does not establish a precise hatch timer.
Choose what you are farming for
Use the wool guide for sheep produce and the cow-hide guide for the animal-killing distinction. The wiki's animal list is not a complete current cow breeding guide, so we do not infer one from its chicken rules.
Steam's Animal Husbandry description calls for filling an Animal Pen with five animals. The wiki text about capacity is unclear, and we have no verified tiles-per-animal formula. Do not assume the smallest structurally valid pen necessarily supports the five-animal target.
If no produce or young appear
Check the enclosure, trough, animal maturity and available capacity before assuming a known bug. Record those conditions and your build. The sources do not give a guaranteed output interval or a repair procedure for every pen state.
