Where to Get Soul Essence in Delverium
Soul Essence is a rare drop from Lost Souls. The developer's September 26 reply points to the Pirate Islands area and says Lost Souls are common there at night. Choose that region and time for your search, then check the drops from those enemies.

Search Pirate Islands at night
- Travel to the Pirate Islands area in your world.
- Search at night for enemies called Lost Souls.
- Defeat those enemies and inspect the resulting drops.
- Keep looking for Lost Souls if Soul Essence does not drop from the first ones.
Common enemies, rare material
The developer distinguishes the two: Lost Souls are common at night in that area, while Soul Essence is a rare drop. Seeing plenty of Lost Souls does not imply you should receive essence from each kill.
The reply gives no percentage, guaranteed number of fights or fixed map coordinates. A daytime visit without the right enemies is a reason to change the timing; several unsuccessful drops at night are not proof that the material has a different name or source.
Check the material name
You are looking for Soul Essence, including when gathering it for a Soul Staff. Do not substitute a different essence just because it shares part of the name. The cited answer does not provide the staff's full crafting quantities, so use the in-game recipe for that later crafting step.
If the route still is not working
Confirm the region, night-time search and target enemy first. When reporting a problem, separate “no Lost Souls found” from “Lost Souls found but no Soul Essence dropped.” The former concerns the search conditions; the latter can be consistent with a rare drop.
