Delverium Pickaxe Upgrades: Mining Tiers, Recipes and Stations
Use a pick for mining and compare its resource tier, not only attack damage. The Tools table lists Wood/Copper as Basic, Iron as Standard, Silver/Jeweled as Enhanced and Obsidian/Gold/Heavy Refactor as Superior. The recipe station changes as you advance.

Plan a pick upgrade
| Pick | Recorded recipe | Station |
|---|---|---|
| Copper | 4 Wood + 4 Copper Bars | Stone Anvil |
| Iron | 4 Wood + 4 Iron Bars | Stone Anvil |
| Silver | 4 Wood + 4 Silver Bars | Iron Anvil |
| Obsidian | 4 Deadwood + 6 Obsidian Bars | Iron Anvil |
| Heavy Refactor | 4 Hardwood + 6 Fracture Bars | Iron Anvil |
| Gold | 4 Deadwood + 6 Gold Bars | Obsidian Anvil |
Each recipe's material and anvil are separate requirements. The starting Wood Pick explicitly mines dirt, stone and copper in the Tools reference.
Treat the tier as a guide, not a complete ore map
Some individual item summaries use copied or differing tier descriptions. This page uses the comparative Tools table for the tier grouping and the specific recipe rows for crafting. It does not assign every ore to a guaranteed minimum pick based on those conflicting summaries.
Diagnose a node that will not break
- Check that the selected hotbar item is a pick rather than a weapon, axe or hammer.
- Confirm that the target is a mineable resource, not a decorative placement.
- Compare the current pick with a reachable next-tier recipe.
- If the upgrade recipe is missing, check its bar material and anvil before gathering more raw ore.
Keep the old pick until the new one is ready; a tool with higher combat damage is not automatically the resource upgrade you need.
